Hi friends my name is Caitlyn Burrus, my friends call me Cait, and this is a website that will contain a collection of who I am, what I love, what inspires me, and what I'm passionate about. Starting a website and a blog is something that I have wanted to do for about three years. Towards the end of 2024 I decided that my New Years resolution would be to launch my own website in 2025, and here we are! So here are a few things about me:
I'm born and raised in Alabama, I'm from Birmingham and am currently in Tuscaloosa where I have been studying Public Relations, Sales, and Communciation Studies at the University of Alabama. Social Media has always been a passion of mine. When I was about 12 or 13 years old I was very much into watching YouTube videos about beauty, lifestyle and vlogs. I even had a brief moment where I tried to have my own YouTube channel where I would create and upload videos. As I got older it turned into thinking about Instagram themes, then getting into Music.ly that then turned into TikTok.
When I first started at the University of Alabama, I interviewed and applied to be an associate within Capstone Agency, a student-led public relations firm. I had the pleasure of revamping their website which gave me back my love for working on websites and developing pages and content. That's when I realized I wanted to have a website of my own to develop and maintain.
At the University I also got the privlege to be elected as the Director of Marketing for my sorority, Delta Zeta Alpha Gamma Chapter. I got to help promote our sisterhood through photoshoots, Instagram, TikTok, and our website as well.
Now I am heading towards the post-grad world that will be starting in May and am currently in the job interviewing process. For my desired career path it is typically standard to have a profile to be able to showcase, but not always a website. While creating this website has been a passion of mine, I also hope that it will help me appear attractive for future job prospects in a way that is a little more personable but still shows my creativity and passions. But that is not the main goal of this page. A few months ago I was in a slump of major burnout. I lost my creative juices, felt unmotivated in certain areas, and honestly had doubts if I had chosen the right degree and career path. But then over the last two months I have been able to truly pour myself into being more creative and get my motivation and drive back. I think a lot of that had to do with being able to find a different creative outlet that wasn't so structured, even though I love every project and opportunity that I've been a part of.
I am so glad that you are here and I hope this can be a page that inspires others, or even just gives the idea to someone to go for what they want. As more posts are uploaded and more content is created, more and more of who I am will come out and I'm so thrilled to have this space as an outlet for that. Welcome to the Collective!
Xoxo, Caitlyn
